Thanks for the ideas....
I got a new set of rods and will install then shortly. I will lube them well. I have axle grease, but maybe graphite dry lube or white lithium grease would be better.
I've been having problems with printing. The effect is that parts are taller than they should be and easily flexed with voids and uneven-ness in the part. I've tried re-flashing the Arduino code with the original code and settings for the slic3r but no luck. This morning I re-printed an old part from the SD card. The original part printed correctly but the new part is about twice as tall but the same size in the X and Y directions and weak enough to bend easily. That tells me the problem if in the printer itself.
After coming back from church, I intend to replace the rods and nuts and use white lithium grease on the rods.
If anyone has any thoughts on why the Z axis is "taller" than normal I would love to hear it!! I replaced the Slic3r setting with the original ones from Folgertech
I got lead screws, and printed side mounts but this problem has me baffled!
