I'm getting a periodic error when attempting to home the X-Axis. I've updated Marlin from the stock to v1.1.9 - everything is working correctly on another FT-5 R2, so I don't think this is the issue, but the error behavior is slightly different than with the stock version of Marlin. When attempting to home the X-Axis, it occasionally does the following:
- Start moving towards endstop
- Stop early (sometimes after 5mm, sometimes 250+mm)
- Move towards endstop slower
- Never hit endstop, and report failure
I've had some other wire issues with the extruder motor cable, so I no longer run any of the extruder assembly wires through any of the cable chains - only the X motor and the X endstop are run through the first chain. I can't seem to find any cause for this behavior, and once I'm able to get a successful homing, everything continues to work just fine. Y Position doesn't appear to be a factor. I've swapped out the endstop and the endstop cable, but neither solved the issue. Any ideas/suggestions? Preferably short of changing out the MKS board...
I think this may be an issue of cross-talk from the stepper motor cable to the endstop cable. I've twisted the stepper motor cable about a dozen turns or so, then put it back into the cable chain and haven't duplicated the issue since... now to see if things keep working...
