On April 19th, John Folger created a poll on the Folger Tech Facebook Group asking the community to name this new printer. With 123 votes, "FT i3 Mega" was by far the winner. Second place was "PrintyMcPrintFace Jr." with 20 votes. If any of you were around in the FaceBook group when John did this same poll to name the original FT-5, you will remember the second place winner for that poll was "PrintyMcPrintFace".
Now on to the good stuff!
Quoted from the naming poll on Facebook by John Folger:
"... This is a super sized version of the 2020 i3 printer using 3030 beam, 24v power system, 300x300x400 mm print area. It is not replacing any of our printers, and is designed to offer something as an alternative to some of the Chinese kits. ..."
In the comments, John also said the pricing will be very competitive with the current Chinese kits on the market (I'm assuming he is referring to the CR-10 and it's variants). I know he was really going after price and performance on this one, so the price should be pretty good and the frame looks to be very stable. He said there will be an upgrade option to replace the threaded rods with lead screws for $20 - $30 more. Specs on these upgraded lead screws are unknown at this time. I'm assuming they will be a 4 start like the ones included in the FT-5 R2 kit.
And for some released pictures:
I'll post more info as it becomes public.
Keep in mind, I created this thread to release info about the FT i3 Mega therefor I have locked it to comments.
Feel free to create a thread to discuss it.
