I am a first time 3D printer builder attempting to work with 4-5 high school students to build the FT-5. It's been a slow process as we chunk our time, but we're moving now, so I wanted to check in with a few questions.
The first is that we are installed the base plate and top plates, but one of the top plates, the one without the protruding rectangular piece, does not reach the far side of the beams to screw in. Right now we have the loose side front, away from the motors. I've checked carefully to make sure that the 460mm and 500mm beams are in the correct places, so I'm not sure where else to adjust (or if I just missed it completely).
Next, as we start to investigate installing the bed plate, we are having some tightness issues. The rails install, though they are very tight, and the bed plate does not get closer than about 10 cm to either the top plate or base plate. Without the rails, the bed plate does not seem to sit flush with the rod holes on the base plate. Though this also seems potentially linked to my first question.
Sorry if these seem like baby questions, I'm sure I'll have more as we approach wiring. Let me know if there is a more appropriate place to ask questions. I don't have a Facebook page, so I may get a student to sign on there and join the group.
