Ok, Little background. Got the printer up, and running about 3 weeks ago. Like many others took 3-4 days to get settings, dialed, etc, etc. Got everything dialed, did a couple long prints (30+ hours)on ABS, came out very well. Got some PTEG, got things dialed for that. Made a bunch of pre-sets, everything was going well. We use this for rapid prototyping for our business. We have fully enclosed it now, as we like to print in ABS.
So to cut to the chase
We had some issues on the hot side. PTFE tube melted, as I left the heater on for too long between prints. I tried to get the heat break out so I could clean the tube out, and it broke, typical I am sure.
So instead of going back to stock, I ordered an E3D Titan V6 hot end and universal extruder. Install was straightforward,
got it on there, used their heater, and thermister, wiring everything in, it fired up, and everything looked ok. First test print using PTEG 250 extruder 60-bed temps. The extrusion was very thin, little ball type crust forming on the print. I also noticed very inconsistent extruder temps, it was showing below zero instead of room temp before it warmed up. I tried a different setting in the firmware (5 instead of 1), did nothing. So at that point, I stripped it back down, OHM checked the thermister and looks like I got a bad one. No big deal. Swapped in the stock thermister, stock heater, and put it back together. Now all the temps are reading as they should, but the prints are still terrible. Just really bad. Nothing will stick, nothing will form, just mess of filament on the bed after a few minutes with some semblance of shapes. This is after the printing was flawless before thius (upgrade)
I went over everything again, I adjusted my steps per mm, and I thought maybe their extruder geared the extrusion a bit.
It was set to 105 stock. They said 837 with their stepper, obviously way too much, but we at least had thick lines that would stick. Dropped it to 250, still too much, 150 closer, 125 decent, requesting 50mm
extrusion it would give me close to 50mm. Back to another test print. Same thing, very thin lines, nothing will print right.
Honestly, I am lost here, I spent almost 8 hours on it today trying to get it figured.
Any help would be appreciated I may just go back to a stock hot end, and flash back to stock firmware settings, and start over.
Thanks in advance!
