Thanks Chris. While the build is still fresh in my mind, I made some notes and suggestions. Feel free to accept or reject any of them.
ACM Parts List
I had several pieces not included in the list, mostly the ones used for the electronics box construction. I imagine those will be added when that section is completed.
Y Assembly Step 11
Might be worth suggesting the use of hemostat(s) (locking forceps) to hold the belt in place before the zip ties go on. I saw a tip in a Hot End youtube video that suggested this technique, and it worked really well.
X Assembly, Step 2
Attaching the cable chain endpoint during this step would be much easier than doing it later. I ended up disassembling these bits to get that installed, rather than contorting myself to get the end attached.
X Assembly, Step 8
Same tip on the hemostat as above
Z Assembly, Step 6
To help prevent myself from loosening the smooth rod that had been right-angle checked, I put electrical tape over the screws (top and bottom). Might be worth suggesting, in addition to your already frequent comments about "do not loosen" these screws.
Z Assembly, Step 8
I had to do this step a few times, as I missed key details related to the lead screw. Would it make sense to break this into two steps, where the smooth rods are the first step, and there's a dedicated step for the lead screws, 8mm pulley, and belt?
Bed Assembly, Step 1
- My bed was not pre-soldered. Not sure if this was a mistake, or if FT is no longer doing that. If they're not, you might need to update this to include soldering instructions (where to solder what, rather than how to solder)
- Also on this step, I interpreted the instructions that the leads needed to be taped down all the way to the edge of the bed, rather than enough to get to the opening in the platform. Perhaps highlight how far it should be taped down?
Thanks again for a superb manual. My build experience was very enjoyable as a direct result of your efforts.
