I had responded to your earlier posting thread apparently just about the instant you deleted it.
Of particular note are the single z motor (bravo !), lack of melamine parts, and the improved idlers.
The 24 volt PSU is a definite improvement as well, though I would still argue that a mains-powered bed heater is superior (I can be printing from dead cold in less than 4 minutes usually).
However, I fully understand the potential safety issues associated with a mains-powered bed heater and its wiring, so the 24 volt PSU is a good and welcomed compromise IMHO.
SO...... when will they be offering replacement/upgrade part kits for the many, many older FT-5's out there?
I am perhaps not a potential customer because I have modified my printer far beyond what this update entails.
But a lot of others very well might be.
I'd like to hope that people on this forum have had something to do with the adoption of these upgrades.
I have also long followed "The Hot End" blog as well, who claim to be in direct contact with JF himself. They have been advocating many of the same things.
I'd like to see their version offered which includes an upgraded hot end and graphics display among other things.
Both items I did on my FT-5 already and I would recommend them to anyone hands-down.
I was printing a bunch of things on mine last weekend and marveled at what it was doing.
I would purchase it again over its competitors if I had to, despite the things that have had to be changed.
