Finally got it up and running. Thanks to all the great post. Bed is definitely warped. Where are most of you getting your glass from? any recommendations preferably not from online and local hardware.
Really the only place to get it would be online or a hardware store.
I got mine at a local glass shop, cheap and they cut it to whatever size you want
Mirror tiles / squares from Lowe's work great. You can break 5 and still be in business!
With the Mirror tiles you can make a collection. I have one with hair spray, one with glue stick, one with the Folgers print surface, one with blue tape, and one with PEI. The last one I cut to 8"x8" for the i3.
What is the thickness of the mirror tiles in the link? Also was curious if the mirror surface would reflect infrared, may not matter
Mine are 3/16" thick. I am sure that the surface reflects infrared but I don't see where it would matter.
I use IR led's all the time in sensor's that I make so I have plenty of IR around.
I meant as far as reflecting the heat away from the glass
Sweet. Thanks. for 10 bucks cant beat the glass tiles. Do they heat up well in your opinion?
I use borosilicate because of its advantageous thermal properties compared to regular glass. It expands and contracts much less when warmed and cooled, making it less likely to shatter and less likely to mess with your print. Cost me about $25 shipped on Amazon for a 300x300 piece.
started using the glass tiles. Have been working great!
