I recently built an FT-5 R2 about a month and a half ago. It's been working fine up until yesterday, where the extruder would intermittently stop extruding in certain regions of the bed.
I tried a multitude of things, including:
- Removing the filament
- Cleaning out the gear and idler
- Complete disassembly of extruder and reassembly
- Increasing the temperature and cleaning out the nozzle
- Resetting the firmware
- Increasing the first layer height
- Rewiring the extruder with new wire
To be clear, the extruder is not clogged. This is an issue with the stepper motor in some fashion. Even with no filament loaded in the extruder, the stepper motor would not rotate properly. It rotates a little bit, then clicks back to where it was, thus nothing comes out. Further adding to the confusion is that the stepper motor ONLY does this in certain areas of the bed. Sometimes it will work, other times it wont.
Any help would be appreciated. I was up till 4am last night trying to fix this, since I have a deadline to meet and the printer is crapping out on me now. I've attached an image of what it looked like for one of the prints.
