Just wanted to bring this up in a clean post to see what options would be possible. some background here, but that was quickly was getting off-topic...
One item being discussed was related to the archival/search capabilities of the forum (which I personally feel is far superior to facebook, among other reasons). The one aspect that facebook has that is currently not available on FF is file sharing capability (btw, the fb file sharing area is a mess and difficult to sort through). @csorrows has posted manuals on here, but I was just trying to think of a good way to share other items (like firmware, etc.).
Perhaps a FF github repo for firmware files and others? Github works really well for stuff like this, but maybe not everyone would know how to use it? That way it could still be just linked from the forum. Maybe there is a better way...
Things like printer upgrade files are shared all over thingiverse, but sometimes those can be hard to find. Perhaps a central repository/wiki of organized links to "things"? Like part cooling fans, zprobe mounts, etc. organized into subcategories underneath each printer cat. A wiki could be group edited (less work for @csorrows), but moderated to require approval to prevent abuse. That wiki could be through github if the forum doesn't have something like that.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't enjoy using facebook (way before the cambridge analytica thing), but still need to go there every once in a while to find some firmware setting/file/config/etc. Just wanted to throw these ideas out to see what people think, and hopefully do it in such a way that it isn't a ton of work to set it up...
