Let's get a few things out of the way first.
- I'm only writing this post because I have exhausted the research i could find.
- I've been a Mac user for years and I'm not going back. So none of those "Just get a PC" remarks
- Being a proud, ignorant mac user, I don't have much expertise on troubleshooting problems like this.
I have a 2016 MBP with USB-C ports only, so I have to use an adapter. In the setup manual it mentions that 3.0 ports and adapters will cause issues when one is trying to upload the firmware to the MKS board for the first time, So I couldn't get that to work. I tried installing a symlinking a D2XX driver, but I'm not sure if it even worked, and if I did install it correctly, it didn't fix anything.
I tried again with my wife's old Dell running Windows 7. I plugged the board in to the USB port per the setup manual, and the computer immediately starting searching for a driver! Sweet! However, I got an error message saying one couldn't be found, and since then it won't recognize the printer at all.
So, is there a proven way I can get the board to connect to my MacBook Pro? Or am I stuck with the old Dell for installing the firmware, and how do I find/install the correct driver manually?
I've tried everything I could find, and it just wasn't enough. Apologies for such a long post.
