I was thinking of building a simple foam cutter by replacing the extruder nozzle with properly tapped heavy gauge copper wire. It would work like electronic soldering iron. I can't see why it would'nt work as long as I don't go too long and too thin, it should behave like a router thats heating insteat of rotating. I did some research and could just not find anything. I'm total newbe about CNC, I've got no idea wich software to use, i've also got a smoothie controller on the way. I tought about that because i need to cast a few large heatsinks for 50w leds. If it could work i would have casted them using the lost foam technique and tried a few different design instead of sand casting them all on the same model. Could save a lot of time on future casting as well.
Any suggestion, idea, obvious problem I should have seen?
